Sandra earned her Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree with honors from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford in 2000. Throughout her career, she has provided compassionate, patient-centered care, helping individuals navigate complex urologic conditions with expertise and empathy. At Elevate Urology, Sandra is committed to delivering personalized treatment plans that integrate the latest advancements in urology while ensuring patients feel heard, supported, and empowered in their healthcare journey.

Sandra C. Palmer is an experienced board-certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in urology, with over two decades of expertise in both male and female urologic health. She has a particular focus on interstitial cystitis, pelvic floor dysfunction, urodynamic studies, and comprehensive care for urinary and sexual health concerns.

Dr. Shanta Shepherd is a board-certified urologist and the founder of Elevate Urology, where she specializes in sexual health, urinary incontinence, and men’s and women’s urologic wellness. With a patient-centered approach, she is dedicated to providing compassionate, cutting-edge care for conditions such as erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, pelvic floor disorders, and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Dr. Shepherd earned her Bachelor of Arts in Human Development from Boston College before pursuing a Master of Public Health at Boston University. Her early career in public health took her across the globe, working in India, Central America, and with refugee populations, as well as serving in the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in Emergency Preparedness.
She went on to earn her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed her urology residency at Boston Medical Center, gaining extensive experience in robotic surgery, microsurgery, and advanced urologic procedures.
Passionate about empowering patients through education and innovative treatment options, Dr. Shepherd founded Elevate Urology to provide expert, personalized care in a welcoming environment. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and connecting with diverse communities. She is fluent in both English and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for a broad range of patients.
